A conversation flew by

murdering the sky.

Pressing the knuckled clouds,

they caw like echo crowds.

By twos heading east like colons:

they drift into semicolons;

In pairs the birds exclaim the sun,

and curve a question mark with one.

Fluffing feathers on the breeze.

They hang high like apostrophes’

And pause with an oxford comma,

to ease their darkened drama.

Black birds form a line break,

they rendezvous and separate.

Flying punks of punctuations,

Teach me basic iterations.

Theirs is a floating myriad,

Shrinking to this period.
