Bluster

“Who has gathered the wind in his fists?” Proverbs 30:4b

*

Raking the roof,

I pulled the drifts down,

over the eaves to the ground.

Then Fists relaxed.

The wind spread and swirled

the winter storm’s debris.

Timed perfectly.

Should I pray for a gale

strong enough for snow to sail?

Gusts a gusting, clearing shingles

like a big open-handed sweep?

Ungather the wind,

Rescind the rescind,

And I’ll lay my burden down…

Right next to the roof rake.
