Recovery infers covering something up again. I find I’m taking cover often. For example, the bigger the crowd, the quicker I retreat. That’s not a good thing considering the size of my family.

The tail end of 2024 is wagging, and we’re thankful we made it through. But a fresh start is a welcome covering. We’re assessing what we want to accomplish in the year 2525 2025. A fresh coat of paint helps in the recovery. Gleening and cleaning, finding ways to minimize this little house in the woods brings energy to both of us.

Our son made us a blanket ladder. All rungs full of draped comfort. The living room is one of the colder spaces in our bungalow. We should rename it the chilling room. A coffee and a cover up is often our go-to in the wake of our up.

There are many illnesses lingering. Barbara continues to battle an incessant cough from pneumonia. Influenza, colds, and viruses are passed around seeking quick recovery. How crazy that something we can’t see affects us so. I’ve covered several foreheads with my hand to check for a fevers.

I pray you will recover from whatever is exposed. If grief, a pray for comfort. If illness, I pray for healing. If surgery, I pray for mending. If hurt, I pray for reconciliation. If weary, I pray for rejuvenation. All synonyms for recovery.

Recovery is a necessity for sure.

I found full recovery in Psalm 23. It’s where a Shepherd leads and helps us recover.

I haven’t read any of your work since it was always poetry..which I love..but I liked this too…I am in recovery mode..again..and 12 years ago I packed up our home to move to a smaller place and many of those boxes haven’t been touched since. Now I am going through them and rediscovering long lost friends..knickknacks my husband got on trips he took before I knew him..and journals I kept from 20 years ago.. interesting to read. Keep on writing!!!

Good to hear from you Noreen. We are always aspiring minimalists. My wife, Barbara, has mad skills in sliming things around here. Happy 2025! God’s grace, mercy, and peace rest on you!

Thanks for your time and thoughts.
